ANS GRAND SECRETARY (2012-2019)
My husband Bob and I moved to Haines in 2006. We soon
joined ANB and ANS and were happily introduced to and
involved in the Native community. He was adopted by
Barbara Lewis’ family as a Raven Woodworm; I was adopted
by Sue Foletti and sisters as an Eagle Kaagwaantaan (also Yanwashaa). Sue worked with Evelyn Hotch, my mentor, to
create my name “Woman who serves others”. I work hard to deserve that title as a volunteer for Hospice, library, Camp 5
ANS (Treasurer), medical escort, and recycling center and
am also a Cornerstone Home Health Care worker. In the
summer I volunteer at the cruise ship dock, where I point
out the Native dance costumes and love to brag about
Elizabeth Peratrovich, since Alaska beat the lower 48 by
19 years in passing an anti-discrimination act.
